POM-3 anti-personnel mines have been modified for dropping by uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs)
A section of PVC pipe has been heated and moulded to sit over the top cap of the mine
It is unclear whether the drag streamers or parachute has been removed
A cut-out in the side of the PVC pipe holds a fuze with an external safety pin, a further white tube is present that is likely to be safety fuze or a flash tube
It is believed the operation is:
The mine is held on the UAV by the thin wire hanger, with a further loose connection to the safety pin
The hanger is released, with a cord pulling the safety pin as it falls, initiating a fuze to fire an ignitor
The ignitor begins the normal arming sequence (if deployed by ISDM rocket or KPOM-3 canister)
The PVC pipe is ejected when the cap is ejected, allowing the legs to deploy and the normal arming sequence to continue
We send out new Bulletins via email, directly to our METIS enterprise-level users and publish them on our Blog the following week. To receive these directly to your inbox as soon as they're released, please contact us about upgrading your account.
