Specialist training & briefings

Delivering critical insights

Expertise you can trust

Your partner in risk management, threat mitigation, and understanding of explosive ordnance

We offer a range of training services, drawing on decades of experience on explosive ordnance disposal (EOD), defence intelligence, and international mine action (clearance). Delivering highly specialised training to provide awareness, knowledge and confidence, our training courses and intelligence briefs can be tailored to your requirements and technical level, provided either at our site or a location of your choice.

Weapons and munitions overview

As a component of Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT), for those engaged in research or as part of continuous professional development (CPD). Fenix Insight provides access to a unique and diverse collection of inert ordnance, allowing for visualisation and handling in a safe environment, while explaining the operational context. This allows the identification and avoidance of hazardous items, while increasing the confidence of students.

Munition breakdown

For organisations and individual operators with a need to disassemble live ammunition, an introduction to the fundamental elements of an ammunition disassembly project. This course covers the integrated system of risk assessment, controls, documentation and breakdown techniques. This provides a thorough understanding of the elements required to plan and manage these complex operations safely and efficiently.

Theatre-specific threat briefings

As part of pre-deployment training (PDT), understanding the threat on the ground is essential. Our briefings provide the required information to efficiently plan operations, mitigate the risk, and identify explosive threats in hostile environments. Combining METIS with our subject matter expertise, our continuously updated briefs are tailored to any current or recent conflict zone, with detailed analysis of particularly high-risk items.

Explosive ordnance effects for medics

To provide an understanding of explosive ordnance and typical effects on their victims, designed for surgeons, trauma medics and first responders expecting to treat victims with blast and fragmentation injuries. Our course also allows the opportunity to see and handle a wide variety of common and unique inert ordnance, in a safe environment, with expert commentary from specialists. This can allow for prediction of wounds and treatment plans for certain munition types.

"The session went down very well. Not just the mine action side of things, but also your explanation around the threat. This training was a pre-requisite for us travelling to [redacted]. Your delivery makes us far more compliant and ticks all the boxes. Thanks again"

" IRIS has the potential to transform the way explosive ordnance is detected on the modern battlefield. […] As such IRIS could revolutionise [our] approach to dealing with explosive ordnance threats. An approach [as] revolutionary as the introduction of a hand held metal detector "
