The Trap (Ru: Капкан) is a Russian magnetic influence (MI) and tripwire-capable fuze

  • The Trap (Ru: Капкан) is a Russian magnetic influence (MI) and tripwire-capable fuze

  • It is part of a series of new electronic fuzes being developed and deployed by Russian armed forces in Ukraine

  • These fuzes copy the success of the Ukrainian Johnnie/Jonny/Jonik/Verba series of programmable, multi-sensor fuzes, as well as improve upon older Russian/Soviet designs

  • A 3D-printed holder has reportedly been developed to allow use with the PTM-3 (Ru: ПТМ-3), in place of the VT-06 (Ru: ВТ-06) fuze

  • It has been reported previously by Russian forces that the VT-06 can be unreliable
