A Russian first-person view (FPV) one-way attack uncrewed aerial vehicle (OWA-UAV) has been seen in Ukraine fitted with a directional fragmentation warhead
This warhead is fired downwards from the UAV to provide an anti-personnel effect
The use of a UAV, instead of the usual ground emplaced mine, allows for;
Removal of need for conventional command or tripwire initiation (but requires datalink)
Accurate targeting
Effective use of fragmentation over an area
Engagement of prone personnel or those in open-topped cover
