A crashed Russian one-way attack uncrewed aerial vehicle (OWA-UAV) has been found in Mali

  • It is believed to be a Garpiya-A1, which is closely related to the Geran-2, albeit from a different manufacturer

  • Garpiya (RU: Гарпія) translates to ‘Harpy’, which was the Israeli precursor to the Shahed-136, which the Russians adopted as their Geran-2

  • The exact differences between the Garpiya-A1 and Geran-2 are unknown, however markings are reported to follow a ‘K’ series (as seen on the wingtip fence)

  • The domed head, pre-formed fragmentation, warhead from the OWA-UAV in Mali is known to be fitted within the Geran-2
