Deployment of New 2S43 Self-Propelled Gun

A Russian 2S43 has been spotted in the Belgorod region, believed to be providing fire missions into Ukraine

  • The 2S43 Malva (Ru: 2С43 Мальва) is the latest Russian artillery system, first being delivered to operational units in October 2023

  • It features a 152 mm 2A64 artillery gun, with a range of 24.5 km, on an 8x8 BAZ-6610-027 all wheel drive (AWD) chassis

  • The 8x8 chassis is lightweight compared to other self-propelled guns, and increases mobility, which is an important feature to avoid counter-battery fire
