Ukrainian forces have began using 3D printed warheads for UAV-dropped munitions.
The use of 3D printing allows for manufacture across a range of locations, as well as a lighter payload for the UAVs, which in turn can allow a larger warhead to be carried or a greater range to be achieved
Two directional fragmentation warhead designs, and one EFP warhead, have been reported on
The directional fragmentation ball bearings are embedded in a helical honeycomb structure to provide omni-directional fragmentation against personnel, soft-skinned vehicles, light field fortifications and open storage areas for ammunition
The EFP can be aimed by the UAV operator
