  • Reported in early November & posted on Russian TV (Rossiya 1)​

  • New self-propelled mortar system based on BMP-3 chassis​

  • Developed during late 1990s – produced since 2010 with only a small number in service ​

  • The 2A80 semi-automatic rifled gun can fire all Russian and Western spin-stabilised mortar projectiles, along with most fin-stabilised mortar bombs.​

    2S31 has the TSHU-2 ‘Shtora-1’ detection jammer system.​

  • In service with Azerbaijan and used in Nagorno-Karabkh war​
