Updates on Current, Emerging and Prolific Munitions added to METIS
This Fenix Insight report updates customers on some of the new technical records recently added to METIS. With the ongoing war in Ukraine, this newsletter is solely focused on munitions related to that conflict, showing just a fraction of the number and variety of munitions present and deployed.

Ukrainian drone-delivered scatterable anti-tank mines
Ukraine has developed it’s own variants of the PTM-3 scatterable AT mine, along with the PPTM programmable magnetic influence fuze to be fitted to these mines, which was first reported on by Fenix Insight in January 2025. The PTM-U is externally a near direct copy of the PTM-3, while the PTM-US is the shortened version, both developed for deployment by drone.
Ukrainian programmable electronic fuzes
The Johnny series fuzes are Ukrainian-developed, programmable electronic fuzes that can be fitted to modified conventional munitions, newer bespoke designs, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs). These have been tracked by Fenix Insight since January 2024, with our entries being constantly updated and expanded.
They are essentially a universal fuze that can incorporate magnetic influence, disturbance, or proximity sensors, making them extremely effective against personnel and platforms. The magnetic influence Johnny M and impact-initiated Johnny K are currently the two most common designs, with their respective VERBA-produced equivalents.
Russian plastic-bodied anti-personnel mine
The PMD-6P, which is an interim designation, is a Russian Federation-developed, box-type, hinged-lid, plastic-bodied, minimum-metal, anti-personnel blast mine (APB). It is closely related to the far earlier Soviet-era-developed wooden-cased PMD-6 series. This mine was first reported on by Fenix Insight in September 2025.
We hope this overview of new and interesting munitions added to METIS has been useful. Our team is dedicated to continuously updating and expanding our entries.
