
Update on Current, Emerging and Prolific Munitions added to METIS
Iran has launched missiles containing submunition-dispensing warheads towards Israel during the current conflict, as well as the earlier 12-day war in June 2025. While the designators are currently unknown, three designs have been identified.

With reports of the mining of the Straits of Hormuz by Iran, a CBS report has claimed deployment of the Maham 3 and Maham 7. This is currently unconfirmed, but information on these mines and other Iranian naval mines are available in METIS.

MAHAM 3SEA MINECURRENT
The Maham 3 is a an Iranian-developed, moored, blast-effect sea mine, which features an acoustic and magnetic influence fuzing system. It is designed to be laid in water up to 100 m deep and resembles a standard horned impact-fuzed mine. | MAHAM 7SEA MINECURRENT
The Maham 7 is an Iranian-developed, blast- and bubble-effect, acoustic- and magnetic influence (MI)-fuzed, anti-shipping, anti-landing craft, and anti-submarine sea bottom mine. It is a close copy of the Italian SEI S.p.A.-developed Manta. |
As reported in our previous SITREP, new one-way attack drones have been deployed by both the US and Iran. The American Low-cost Unmanned Combat Attack System (LUCAS) made its debut early in the conflict. A drone that is believed to be the the Iranian Getral has been launched against targets in Israel and Kuwait, likely along with other countries in the region. It had previously been displayed during exercises in February 2025, and may have undergone changes to its design.
